- JOB PURPOSE / DESCRIPTION
- To facilitate Environmental Impact Assessment studies for the development and implementation of Environmental Safeguards tools on projects.
To facilitate compliance to environmental laws (National, Regional and international) in all ZESCO areas of operation.
To facilitate good participation and representation in various projects related to environmental and water resources management both at National and International Levels.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 Certificate with 5 ‘0’ level pass
Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource management, Biological Sciences, Forestry, wildlife Management, Geography, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Sciences.
Master’s degree in any Environmental or Natural Science related field would be an added advantage.

- JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assist in conducting and compiling data on all environmental issues to prepare EIS reports
Assist in conducting and compiling Environmental Management Plans for ZESCO projects
Conduct environmental monitoring and evaluation programs on projects.
Compile and analyse data on environmental risks
Participate in promotion of awareness on impacts of emerging environmental issues on corporate business
Assist in preparing Gantt Charts for Environmental Impacts on all ZESCO projects
Participate in carrying out Environmental Monitoring and Evaluation on all ZESCO projects
Participate in data collection and interpretation for management of environmental problems
Keep abreast of best practices in environmental risk management approaches and other relevant initiatives for power utilities.
Participate in yearly environment audits of all ZESCO facilities and prepare status reports on environmental performance.
Participate in creating data management systems for reporting and analysis
Prepare quarterly and annual reports for the Unit.
Participate in development and maintenance of environmental aspects and impacts risk registers
Ensure compliance to environmental legal requirements in all areas of the Corporation
Performing any other activities lawfully assigned by the Supervisor.
Coordinate EIA’s, EPBs and ESMP’s for the construction of ZESCO power stations, substations and associated infrastructure.
Carry out other duties lawfully assigned by the Supervisor.
Required Skills
Ability to conduct Risk Assessments
Knowledge in the critical stages of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment
Preparation and Coordination of Social Impact Assessment (SIAs) as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment
Capacity to Prepare and implement Environmental and Social Management Plans
Capacity to Prepare and implement Corporate Environmental Policy
Capacity to Articulate and communicate due diligence requirement and opportunities to management
Knowledge of International Environmental Safeguard policies and guidelines such as SAPP, World Bank, IFC and ADB among others.
