- PRINCIPAL GEOMATIC ENGINEER - (01 POSITION)
- JOB PURPOSE / DESCRIPTION
- To provide Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, land suitability analysis, and spatial data management for optimal site selection of ZESCO’s solar installations.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 Certificate
Bachelor of Geomatic Engineering or equivalent.
Masters in any Environment or Social related field would be an added advantage.
Vocational and Professional Qualifications
Membership in Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
- EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENT
- • Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience.
- JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Carry out solar site selection, mapping and suitability analysis using GIS and remote sensing tools and physical site surveys
Carry out overhead line route selection and survey for transmission/distribution power evacuation lines from the proposed solar plants and prepare technical and other reports
Participate in the review of documentation and designs
Develop and maintain database of survey reference data that can be used by ZESCO and other contractors in power infrastructure projects
Provide Geomatic input and participate in the documentation and design reviews
Work closely with Project Managers, Environmental experts and other project team members to ensure that surveys required to execute projects are sustainable, timely and effectively planned and executed
Preparing, coordinating and controlling the department budgets to minimize expenditure without compromising the performance of the department to meet its goals
Engaging regularly with both internal and external stakeholders to improve the performance of the department to meet its goals
Maintaining awareness of other department needs and expectations and proposing solutions within the area of responsibility
Initiate purchase and maintenance of survey equipment
Ensure adherence to safety, health and security requirements
Any other tasks, as may from time to time, be assigned by Supervisor
(e) Required Skills
Effective communication/presentation skills both orally and written, using English on all departmental matters and policies which may impact on relevant or all departments
Preparation of complex or highly technical reports which may be distributed within or outside the company
